The $659.99 Unlocked contract price is pretty hefty but it could be worse.

Through BoyGeniusReport we have gotten a hold of the latest most official release date for the BlackBerry Bold 9000. October 27th, just one week from today, is the date currently promised. The Press Release from September 8th, described a "October XX" release date, and with this email, looks like that is true. How about not delaying it again AT&T.

Go sign up for your email alerts at Verizon, you know I already have. Now that we have a dedicated official page to the storm there is no turning back now, except for the dreaded delayed release date. Its a shame this phone has a lifetime exclusivity with Verizon otherwise I would be a lot more excited about the storm.

Early this morning a member on CrackBerry's forums found a video review of several upcoming cell phones: The HTC Coke, the LG Lotus, and most importantly the BlackBerry Storm/Thunder. The Storm/Thunder for Verizon is setting to make itself an "iPhone Killer" but with its first video review out, BREW Ninja wasn't too fond of it. Unfortunately for everyone who didn't get to see the video this morning, it was pulled off of YouTube shortly after I was able to view it a few times. Vancover based communications company EQO(pronounced “echo”) is a FREE application that brings free instant messaging, cheap calling and cheap texting to your mobile phone. Now their software is available for the BlackBerry Bold 9000, the Bold will be one of the first phones to feature this technology. Since we don't have a Bold to test this product out on we are leaving it up to our readers to download EQO and let us know about their experiences. BoyGeniousReport has gotten a hold of a "pretty solid bit of info from pretty high up source at AT&T that they’re aiming to have the BlackBerry Bold in stores on October 2nd". Still got over a month for this date to come, but with the recent 3G issues, this date wouldn't surprise me.

Our friends over at Crackberry have stumbled upon promotional fliers which include the price of the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 on Rogers with a 3 year plan. The cost of the phone is set at $149.99, much higher then the originally anticipated price of $49.99. This raised price and long contract has all but killed the hopes of this clamshell being an affordable "back to school" phone. Hopefully the lack of sales will convince RIM and Rogers that they need to turn the 8220 into an inexpensive alternative rather than a half step below the Pink Curve.

Engaget Mobile has broken pictures of the packaging for the BlackBerry Storm 9530. The storm was formally code named Thunder and many leaked pictures have been around(Here, Here or Here). The Storm is set for an October 13th release date, but its going to be an Verizon exclusive. Hey RIM, why make an obvious iPhone competitor if you arn't going to release it on the same network that the iPhone is on? Maybe im just bitter because I'm stuck on AT&T and won't be able to get a Storm without switching networks.

As for the Thunder name, according to the blog-o-sphere, in Canada, Europe, and possibly elsewhere the 9530 will go by "Thunder". Seems as though only in the U.S. will it be named "Storm". Weird huh?

According to the packaging the phone will include a SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Card to house all of the media for the Storm. I applaud RIM for adding a decent microSDMC Card, anything smaller could have been disasterous for them.
